Cincinnati, OH – The law firm of Reisenfeld & Associates LPA, LLC is pleased to announce the expansion of their foreclosure and bankruptcy departments with the recent addition of Phyllis A. Carmer and Martha R. Spaner.

Ms. Carmer, associate counsel in the firm’s Indiana foreclosure department, graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1989 where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree.  Ms. Carmer later earned her Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Law School in 1994 and was admitted to the United States District Court of Indiana in 1997.

Previously, Ms. Carmer served as in-house counsel and examiner for an Indiana title insurance company, concentrating in foreclosure and REO properties. Prior to that, Ms. Carmer was an associate attorney at a large creditors’ rights firm in Indianapolis and then a small, general civil practice law office. Ms. Carmer also managed the Document Preparation Department of a Business Banking Loan Center for a three-state region (Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin) before beginning her legal career.

Ms. Spaner, associate counsel in the firm’s bankruptcy department, graduated from Ohio University in 1988 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications. Ms. Spaner furthered her education by attending the University of Findlay where she earned her Master of Science in environmental management in 1995. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2001.

Before joining Reisenfeld & Associates in April 2009, Ms. Spaner served as associate attorney for Felty and Lembright specializing in bankruptcy cases. Prior to that, Ms. Spaner was an in-house counsel at FN Realty, an eighty-four unit apartment complex in Willowick, Ohio with an approximate worth of three million dollars. There, she acted as in-house counsel for all general legal matters including approximately ten to fifteen evictions and the implementation of new lease provisions.

Prior to that, Ms. Spaner held various associate counsel positions with different Ohio law firms handling various types of law. While attending law school, Ms. Spaner served as a law clerk for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District where she researched and prepared memoranda on various legal topics such as tax exemption, bankruptcy, Internet & intranet policies, liquidated damages, storm water issues and community discharge. She also reviewed female and minority business enterprise applications and submitted memoranda based on qualifications.

We are very pleased to have Ms. Carmer and Ms. Spaner join our team,” said Brad Reisenfeld, Managing Partner. “These women bring with them an excellent amount of experience and expertise, which will help Reisenfeld & Associates better serve our clients and help continue our success.”
